Calgary Shopping List - in case you wondered!

So next weekend I'm taking my mom to see Elton John in concert in Calgary! It's the perfect Mother's Day gift - I get to spend some quality time alone with my mom and we get to bond over an amazing concert and weekend of shopping, eating and drinking!

It's time for some spring and summer shopping so instead of going with no clue in mind.. here is a little list of things I hope to find in Calgary while shopping...

-platform sandals
-adorable flats perfect for any outfit - neutral color
-sundress(es)
-a nice summer purse!
- maybeee a pair of skinny jeans to add to the growing collection!

I probably don't need most of these things. But one thing I definitely plan on looking for are some fun summery tops to spruce up any pants and skirts I already own. I find that I am sick of a lot of the tops in my closet and that is usually the hardest piece to find when putting an outfit together.
If anyone knows of some good local boutiques or places to shop in Calgary please let me know!

Up and down....

Life has been so up and down lately... one minute I'm smiling like crazy and the next minute I'm crashing into a wall of unhappiness.

If the sun continues to shine I will definitely put my worries behind me.
Maybe I'm bitter because I attempt to eat healthy and go to the gym but when I fall behind it just snowballs into another mess of alcohol and junk food. But...it's just so hard to say no to that glass of wine at the end of the day!
In the mood to ramble a bit. Keep up somehow with this blog. Stay connected to a simple form of "art" as I like to consider it.

I miss Toronto oh so much. My friends who are still there - cherish it! The restaurants, the bars, the suits, and the shopping!!! Don't take it for granted.
In other news, I will be going to Elton John in Calgary with my mama for her mother's day gift from me! Glad I can spend some hard earned money on her and spend a weekend alone together.

French Alps

can't believe i had the chance to see these bad boys (the french alps) but i was able to this past january and february (2011). what an amazing experience. with 66 chair lifts, a million different runs, and fabulous restaurants in the middle of these massive mountains - i recommend this to anyone who has the chance. i wouldn't call myself an expert skiier either and although my nerves were high at first, after a day of skiing (and some major wipeouts) i felt prepared for the next week!

raclette - an amazing french meal consisting of melting cheese with meats, breads, and vegetables. like a fondue but even better!

It's no wonder they say the French could care less to leave their own country; they have mountains, beaches (the south of France), and the Eiffel Tower... what more can you ask for??

thought I would start blogging again but showing something that looks incredible. anyone out there know of any other great documentaries? i also want to see the banksy one. the cove is a great documentary about the dolphins used in shows across the world and the "cove" in japan where they are captured, and either killed or sold.

farewell to the big city lights

the life of ayla would not be normal if it weren't for a change every 4-5 years... from one city, to one province, to another city in another province, I am now in ALBERTA! Writing this post from my new location up north near the oilsands, I give you a glimpse of most (but not all) the people that made my farewell worthwhile in Toronto. Cheers to my friends in the best city in Canada, Toronto, here are to the memories we made, the tears we've cried and the drinks that we spilled! Thanks to everyone who came out at the end of September for my departure festivities. Toronto, you will be missed, but I'll be back soon enough to rip it up again!
